The "poetry" link made me smile and the pictures and descriptions left me full of wonder at the curious creatures inhabiting the lake, as well as the unique properties of the lake. I would love to visit Baikal and observe it through the seasons; I want to hear the ice "sing" and feel the summer's cold sting. I hope the paper/cellulose mill will find a way to reverse its damage in a profitable manner... it's difficult, but not impossible to do. Perhaps the solution can be found in the lake itself. I wonder if the lake loved by JR Tolkien's character was inspired by Baikal? |

I wanted to marry one of your ladies. once we wanted to travel to England but the English lady on the phone told me that Elena would not get visa. it hurt me very much becauseI loved Elena. I was refused by Elena because I was the wrong manfor her.it made me not hate her. It made me considder Russian people as my sisters and my brothers. Elena just wanted to see London. Putin is right if he requires a strong Russia. It´s time to make Russian´s people´s voice heard in the world today. Because Russian people have something to say! | Comments: | In July 2002 my wife and I spent 2 weeks in Listvyanka and the very small village of Bolshe Kodie with our guide Michael. Lake Baikal is an amazing site and the people are warm and friendly. The lake is so crystal clear you can see a shinny coin 50 meters from the bottom. We hiked the countryside, rode on fishing boats, visited the small and charming Orthodox Church (I bought a ring there that I still wear today), shopped the outdoor market and ate fresh smoked fish by the shore with our fingers drinking a bottle of Baltika #3 (that's their national beer & it's awesome). Some day we will take our kids to this wonderful place and I recommend it to everyone to visit this warm little town. I could go on for quite some time describing our visit but that would take away all the fun you'll have when you experience it for yourself. |

| Comments: | On our trip to Beijing with the Transibierian Railway we stayed 3 nights in Irkutsk! The people were very nice and had big hearts and always wanted our best! The city was very charming. The old wood cabins were icons.For a swede the vodka was very cheap on the restaurants. For all foreign visitors we can recommend to take bus 16 to the Hydrofoil Station and take a day trip (with some hours stop on land) on the Baikal lake. One thing for sure; we will come back! But next time by air and not by train! Maybe train later Irkutsk to Vladivostok! |

Watch out for Margarita Vasilyeva, pictures of her make her look very sweet and nice but she is cold calculating person who is only after your money along with her partner in crime Maksim Sergeevich Colchin. The scam is that she picks from web dating site pretending to be American. Then says this is a small lie due to MSN or whoever not recognizing Russia as a country. She will then send you pictures and lots of lovely sentiments then say it is her birthday and wants to spend it with you. hen comes the sting she does not earn enough money for air fare and visa. So you say that you can pay and send money for tickets etc to Travel Agency via Western Union. You then do not here from agency or woman again. Be very aware of these individuals. |
