First of all, congratulations with your website on the Lake Baikal. I'm planning to visit Russia next summer. Maybe I can stay at my penpals'place in Angarsk.Could you send me some more information about this city? As a Belgian I'm particularly interested in the quality of the beer upthere. As for the quality of the women : I'm not longer interested because the nicest one is sitting right next to me. Good riddens Russia!

Hello Fedor, just looked through the pages for irkutsk and didn't find a link to our site which was originally posted here (about a year ago). I represent a Gay and Lesbian Association in Irkutsk and it is sort of frustrating to find no link to our site among "Public activities" links. If it is possible, could you please repost the link? I am also waiting for an e-mail from you. Hope you are doing OK, have a great success in your work, Alex...

I recently visited Irkutsk as part of an archaeological expedition on the shores of Lake Baikal, at Khuzhir-Nuge. If any of the good friends I made this summer read this, please drop me a line! It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, and I hope to visit Irkutsk and Baikal again soon.

I have a Russian exchange student from Irkutsk and wish I had known about your site earlier. Maybe info to the exchange groups like AISE would help host families to get to know there students and to know about their countries before they come? It would help to have a web site for all the countries that send exchange students. This goes for ours going overseas too. Good job.

I am sorry, but I don't know what URL is. I live in the High Desert of California and this past summer got to meet some students from an Institute in Volsky, Russia. There were 13 of them and they were all beautiful inside and out. I never realized the the Russian language is the most beautiful language I have ever heard. I also learned how to cook Borsht and how to eat in a healthier way, and so far I have lost 5 pounds. I miss my newly made Russian friends and I miss hearing the Russian language. I hope to visit them in Russian in June and hope everything goes well. I love your website. I think it is great.

For a lone time I've always wanted to do our family tree. My grandfather is from Irkutsk. He died the year I was born - 1953. I would like to know more about his family - my relatives. All I know are stories from my mom. He was an only son though I am not sure. His name is Leonid L. Kniazeff. I am not sure of his middle initial. He worked as a consultant to the Elizalde's mining firm. According to my mother, he only spoke Russian to his Russian friends. I would really like to complete my family tree. Can anyone help me?

My son graduates from High School June, 1999. To celebrate his graduation we wanted to travel around the world. We plan on flying Beijing, China, and take the Trans-Mongolian train to Russia and on to Moscow and Europe on the Trans-Siberian railroad. We hope to stay two days in Irkutsk until the next train comes through before heading West. We hope to stay in your Youth Hostel to keep our costs down. I sent an Email to the Youth Hostel but did not hear from them. Would like to know if there is an Internet Cafe in Irkutsk or any access to the Internet using an Roman character keyboard? Are there people in Irkutsk that know English? Thanks in advance for any answers.

Great site! My husband and I are planning a Trans-Siberian rail trip in September or early October of 1999. We would appreciate any information about usual weather conditions at that time and visitor accommodations. We wish to visit Lake Baikal and are interested in tourist accommodations near by. Enjoyed your web site immensely. What a pleasant surprise to discover it. Will return and tell others about it.

I just recently returned from Irkutsk.I was part of a cultural exchange with 6 students and two other adults. We were given an invitation by Vadim Shakherov and the Irkusk History Museum. Your website is wonderful and brings back wonderful memories of your city. What it doesn't show is the incredible generosity and warmness of your people including the Vice Mayor's office. I would return to see and learn more and be back with my new friends in Russia in a heartbeat. Thank you for your website. Sarah

A while ago I have seen the pictures from a colleague, who went to Siberia with the train, actually the whole way long from Moskow to Wladiwostok and she really made a lot of wonderful pictures. I really would like to go as well, since I am working for the German railways, and I could go for a fair price. However is it recommandable now, to change train stations in Moscow and go all the way with train? Hope to do so anyhow one day.
