E-mail - Telegram Gateway
To foster international cultural exchange and provide a
faster and more reliable way of communication for people without
Internet or telephone access, we have established this non-profit
The usual "snail-mail" sometimes takes 3 weeks or more to
reach a Russian addressee from abroad. If you have such problems
while sending messages to somebody in Irkutsk or the former Soviet Union,
you are welcome to use our E-mail - Telegram Gate.
To use our service, send an e-mail with the recipient's address and
the text of your telegram to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your message will be re-sent through the E-mail - Telegram Gate as a
usual telegram inside Russia and CIS. According to Russian
postal rules, a telegram must be delivered within 6 hours
and requires the recipient's signature.
In many cases, a telegram is considered an official document.
Our service is available only for registered users. Please send your
registration request to the address below or use this form.
The registration and telegram service are free, but you have to cover
our expenses for resending, which reflect the prices of
Moscow Central Telegraf (1 to 5 US dollars). You will receive a
detailed fee list after registration. Incoming telegrams are free.
After registration, you will receive your personal P.O. Box address
in Moscow. Feel free to put it on your business card.

The text of a telegram should not exceed 150 characters
(about 3 lines). Longer messages will be charged as 2 telegrams
(up to 300 characters). Your message can be in Russian or English.
If you use Russian, use KOI8 or write your message in Russian
with Latin letters.
Russian is preferable to English because telegraph machines with
Latin type are rare, potentially delaying your telegram. Indicate
if you want your text to be translated to Russian. If your correspondent
organization has a teletype code, please supply it in your
messages instead of an address.
Confidentiality while re-sending is guaranteed.
