Heaven on Earth: Orthodox Treasures of Siberia and North America-- Icons from Irkutsk on display in Chicago 29 Nov 1996 From now until January 6th at the Field Museum [312-922-9410] in Chicago, USA, there is an exhibit of beautiful icons and other "liturgical art" [candelabra, clerical robes and mitres, chalices, censers, etc.] from the Russian, Serbian, Greek, Romanian, Ukrainian, Aleut, Eskimo, Tlingit, and Koniag Orthodox traditions. The items are displayed to the accompaniment of choral liturgical music. Most of the items are from Irkutsk and Alaska and date from the 17th century to the present. Also, all the "Russian and Holiday items" in the gift shop are half off. Admission is $5. -- Our information
