My dearest friends, I wish you a Happy New Bear and a nice Mickey Mouse, too! We Ugandians cherish the sweet moments of the new circle of life and hope that all of our best friends in this hot and unpredictable world will be alive and still kicking! I know that many of you think of us Ugandians as mere Africans, but that is not so. We had our big national party and even imported a huge X-mas tree (from Siberia, most naturally). We drank Russian vodka and sang "V Lesu Rodilas Yolochka", our favorite song... I would like you to think of all those unhappy and deprived of their rights in Africa and all the world, of the Russian old men starving in the cold streets, of all the violence and all the bloody massacres, and think of those whom you LOVE and feel that somebody needs your loving heart. I have always been a person who trusts in people and in that all men are created equal and thus should understand each other. ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE (thank you, John Lennon)... and LIVE LONG AND PROSPER! P.S. Hello Safia? I bet you are still pretty drunk after the massive celebration! I am not dead (yet) and I'll write you soon. Take care!

Hello, Irkutsk! I was just as pleased to visit your website, as I was to visit your lovely city in 1978, 1980 and 1985. I hope one day to renew my acquaintance with "The Paris of Siberia" (as Irkutsk was named by English authors, 100 years ago. The nearby Lake Baikal, the boundless Taiga, the old "izba" buildings with their "wooden lace", the many churches, monastery etc., and the friendly Siberian people make Irkutsk a fine city. As the author of a book on the pre-1918 postal history and postmarks of Siberia, I have a practical interest in your part of the world, and I hope to see more of Irkutsk and its surroundings before too long. Kind regads, Philip Robinson

GREAT page ! I had the privilege to spend close to two years in the Ural and Western Siberia region and can honestly say that you have not seen Russia, until you visit Siberia. That is where hardworking, honest and friendly Russians live. We, Americans, Europeans and Asians need to understand the real Russia and offer our assistance to the Russian people in their moment of need and hardship.

George Barringstone Reports: there is this really ugly nasty weather here in Uganda and we are having much snow in the badly troubled sky just over our most troubled heads. Dear Russian Siberian blonde ladies and huge gentlemen, you are lucky because the snow in Irkutsk is not wet like cold water and because the snow in Irkutsk has always been a part of your happy lives (so untypical of Uganda, right). Now, does anyone from Irkutsk know anybody who graduated from "ИРКУТСКИЙ ТЕХНИЧЕСКИЙ ЛИЦЕЙ" near the Main Bus Station? I would be thankful for any information. Leave it in this guestbook, please. Live long AND prosper, let the starforce be with you, let the sun shine bright as bloody hell, and always remember this...every Siberian knows that Irkutsk is the center of the world!!! Take care in this careless world, GB.

Hi! We are hosts parents to a student from Irkutsk. His name is Evgueniy Dubrovine. He has been in our home since Sept 9th and we are so happy to have him. If all people are like him we will try for another student from Irkutsk in January for the next year.He is well mannered and funny too! Our weather is warmer than yours but it does get cold in winter. Wichita has about 500,000 people but we live just outside the city. We have an acre of land and 2 spare rooms. Are there any students who want to be exchange students to America next year? This site is great as we have learned about your weather and the people and the lake Bakail. We invite email from anyone who would like American penpals. If necessary Evgueniy will translate. He is called Eugene here as that is our word for Evgueniy. His mother is a teacher of Algebra. There are 3 other Russian students in the area but only two go to our school. What do you do? What are your jobs? What are your fun activities? Please write and we will write back keep up the good work on this site. Your town is very beautiful.
